A mass shooting near a funeral home in Baltimore County, MarylandOne person died and nine others were injured Tuesday evening, according to county officials.
Baltimore County Police Chief Robert McCullough said officers responded to reports of shots fired on Loch Raven Boulevard around 7:15 p.m. Tuesday. According to Baltimore County Fire Chief Joe Dixon, the scene of the accident occurred near Johnson Funeral Home in Towson Township.
At the scene of the accident, an officer found a vehicle on its side in flames. McCullough said it appeared the car was involved in an incident that resulted in it crashing and catching fire, but further details were not available.
The county fire department was contacted and ten victims were located in the area – one died from a gunshot wound and nine were injured. Most of the victims were injured by gunfire, the police chief said.

The nine surviving victims were transported to area trauma centers under unknown conditions. Details about the victims and their injuries were initially not known.
McCullough said the department determines that circumstances surrounding the shooting, However, he said the incident was likely targeted and isolated.
“(It) appears that the individuals in this case knew each other in some way,” McCullough said. “This incident was intentional and targeted.”
As of Tuesday evening, there had been no arrests in connection with the shooting.
“We will leave no stone unturned and use all resources to achieve this,” promised the chief. “We don’t generally see anything like this in our communities in Baltimore County. This is an isolated incident.”
Responding Baltimore County firefighters were able to contain the car fire, Dixon said, and provide aid to the victims before transport to the scene.
The fire chief said he was “proud of our emergency services” and emphasized the partnership between them Police and fire brigade.

County Executive Johnny Olszewski, the elected representative of Maryland’s 2nd Congressional District in the U.S. House of Representatives, also attended the news conference and said he was shocked by the fatal shooting.
“This is an incident that is shocking, especially to those of us in Baltimore County. Incidents of this kind are unheard of here, so it really shocks the consciousness,” he said.
He added that the county is “fully committed” to ensuring both police and fire departments receive full support and resources during active investigation.
