Kenya and Ethiopia shined at the international Marrakech Marathon this Sunday. The Kenyan Alfonce Kigen Kibiwott won the race for this sporting event under the high patronage of SM King Mohammed VI and swept the event in 2H08MN47S, followed by the Moroccans -Soufiyan Bouqantar (2H09MN13s) and Omar Ait Chitachen (2H09MN25S).
Among the women, Ethiopian Beyenne Tifri Tsegaye rode the distance of the event (42.195 km) in a time of 2:25m44s ahead of Morocco’s Oumaima Saoud (2H29M51S) and his compatriot Bekele Abebech Afework (2:30M39).
In the half marathon, Moroccan athlete Aziz Aitourkia finished in a time of 1H1MN35s ahead of Kenyan Langat Leonard Kipkoch (1H1MN38S) and his compatriot Mousaab (1H1MN39S). Among the women, Bahreïnie Vioarh Jepchumba Kilonzoa dominated the race with a time of 1H10M42 ahead of Morocco’s Kawtar Kahhaz (1H11M31s) and Nazha Mchrouh (1H11M59S).
