Mrirt – Maroc Telecom (IAM) and Inwi (Wana Corporate) announced pioneering cooperation to accelerate fiber optic and 5G networks throughout Morocco, which marks an important milestone in the country’s digital transformation strategy.
The agreement approved by both corporate bodies specifies two innovative joint ventures, which share each other’s telecommunications infrastructure.
The first joint venture, called Fiberco, focus When expanding the coverage of the fiber optic network with “ambitious goals of 1 million connections within two years and 3 million connections over five years,” the press release said.
The second joint venture, Towerco, focuses on the 5G network expansion. The partnership plans to “invest in the construction of new telecommunications turrets and the renovation of the existing infrastructure, which within three years and 6,000 towers target 2,000 towers in the next decade”.
The initial investment for the first three-year phase is estimated at MAD 4.4 billion ($ 0.44 billion). In particular, these passive infrastructures for each licensed operator are open to ensure compliance with the current regulations.

The most remarkable thing may be that the partnership is a significant reconciliation between the two telecommunications giants. The companies solve a previous legal dispute ordered MAD to pay 6.38 billion (0.63 billion US dollars) to the ENWI.
As part of your new collaborative approach, you will withdraw ongoing legal proceedings and reduce the remuneration amount to MAD 4.38 billion ($ 0.43 billion).
