The striker of Athletic Club Maroan Sannadi was a victim of hideous racist abuse during today’s 1-1 draw against Espanyol in the Rcde Stadium. The game was held in the 17th minute after the fans thrown disgusting insults with the Moroccan striker.
Eyewitnesses say that part of the crowd in Sannadi in Sannadi called “Puto Moro” (F ** King Maroccan) after winning a corner. Referee Guillermo Cuadra Fernandez stopped for three minutes, and a message was played against racism over the stadium speakers.
The 24-year-old was visibly shaken, but continued to play. His team -mate Iñaki Williams later spoke out and remembered that he was abused racist himself in the same stadium in 2020.
“Football should be a place for enjoyment. It’s a Sunday, a great day, two in the afternoon … Such things shouldn’t happen. This is not the first time that it happened here. I experienced it years ago, ”said Williams in an interview with Movistar.
This is not an isolated case. Only last weekSannadi and two other sporty players, Adama Boiro and Alvaro Djalo, were targeted by racist fans during a game against Real Betis.
La Liga has recorded several top -class racist incidents in recent years, with Vinicius Junior, Lamine Yamal and Raphinha all abuse.
Espanyol still has to publish an explanation, but it is pressure to take serious measures to prevent other hideous scenes.
