Liverpool will reportedly begin their January transfer window by letting a player leave, according to the latest report from journalist Fabrizio Romano.

Watch below as the Italian posted about what appears to be imminent on his official account on X Departure of the Reds goalkeeper Marcelo Pitaluga.

Liverpool’s star attracts interest from Premier League rivals!

Romano says all documents have been signed for the 22-year-old to leave Liverpool for Fluminense, with no transfer fee but a 40 per cent sell-on clause for the Merseyside giants…

Pitaluga isn’t exactly the biggest name in Liverpool, but when he first joined the club in 2020 he seemed like a talented goalkeeper.

Since then, however, the Brazilian has had to make do with several loan spells as he failed to break into the LFC first team.

The transfer departure of Marcelo Pitaluga certainly comes as no surprise to Liverpool

Still, it is hardly surprising that Pitaluga failed to make a breakthrough in this Liverpool team, as there was always such strong competition for a place in goal.

Alisson has been Liverpool’s number one for years as he has been a world class goalkeeper for years, while Caoimhin Kelleher is a very solid and reliable replacement.

That never left much room for someone like Pitaluga or another young player to get more exposure, so leaving now seems like the right decision.

It will be interesting to see if Pitaluga can fulfill his potential with a return to Brazil, with that 40 percent sell-on clause perhaps something that could still prove valuable to Liverpool at some point in the future.

For now, however, Liverpool fans will just be happy to have a world-class goalkeeper like Alisson in their ranks Giorgi Mamardashvili will be another exciting addition when he comes from Valencia in the summer.
