London bans advertising

Advertisements from Wahed Invest, an Islamic investment platform, showing burning euro and dollar notes were banned by Britain’s Advertising Standards Authority (ASA), which deemed them “deeply offensive.”
The regulator believed that these images could offend people for whom their country’s currency represents a cultural and national symbol.

The posters featured figures such as a Muslim preacher and Khabib Nurmagomedov, accompanied by slogans such as “Join the money revolution” and “End exploitation”.

Wahed Invest explained that the aim is to highlight the impact of inflation on savings, especially among customers who avoid interest for religious reasons.

In addition, the ASA received 75 complaints following the broadcast of these adverts on the London Underground.
