Mohamed Salah, the Premier League’s top goalscorer, said he, along with Trent Alexander-Arnold and Virgil van Dijk, will not leave the club until they have won the top flight again.
The Reds are six points clear of Arsenal and have one game left at the top of the table in their first season under coach Arne Slot, but the focus is increasingly on whether legendary striker Salah, captain Van Dijk and winger Alexander-Arnold will extend their offers as soon as they expire at the end of the campaign.
“My motivation this year was to win a trophy and play a big part in winning that trophy – especially the Premier League,” Salah said Sky Sportsabout the squad assembled by Slot’s predecessor Jürgen Klopp, whose trophies include the 2018/19 Champions League and the 2019/20 Premier League.

Salah contract: “No progress”
Salah has top-scored for Liverpool in every season since his arrival from Roma in 2017 and was in sensational form in 2024/25, scoring 20 goals and assisting 17 goals in 26 games in all competitions.
The 32-year-old said the circumstances of Liverpool’s last title win, which came during the Covid pandemic, meant their team “didn’t really have time to celebrate it properly”.

Reporter Patrick Davison, who spoke to Salah, said he believes the Egypt captain “wants to extend his time at Liverpool”.
“During the interview he said again that it was his ‘last year’ at the club,” Davison added. “But I don’t think he wants it to be that way.”

Premier League title: Salah “wants big numbers”
“I am really motivated to win the Premier League,” said Salah. “I don’t want to just have a small role. I want to win it and then people say: “He made the difference and led the team to victory.”
“Arsenal caught us. (Fourth) Chelsea catches us. (Sixth reigning champions) Man City will definitely come back.
“It’s very difficult but we just have to stay focused, not take it for granted and keep working hard. I don’t want to say at the end of the season: “I had incredible numbers but the team didn’t win anything.” I just want to win the cup and have the big numbers.”
Salah on slot: Klopp “had a system”
Klopp won every major trophy there was in Liverpool in the previous almost nine years He took a break from management at the end of last season.
Former Feyenoord manager Slot has picked up 23 wins and one loss in his first 27 games, including wins in all six of Liverpool’s opening games in the Champions League and three Carabao Cup encounters.

“The new manager has a new idea that will help the team… maybe things have changed a little, which makes us all want more and win more,” Salah said.
“That doesn’t mean we didn’t want to win anymore, but changes can help the team and I was never motivated to win the Premier League.
“With Jürgen we always had a system. We stuck with what we were doing with him no matter what.
“We did that for seven to eight years. Depending on the game, the new manager changes something. We haven’t done that before.”
Liverpool are unbeaten in 23 games before facing Manchester United, who are in 14th and 23 points behind, at Anfield on Sunday (4.30pm GMT).
