Nowadays we have become deaf for filmmakers and studios, which after their first publication to the public made changes to films and television programs. Regardless of whether it is a Starbucks Cup from the realm of Westeros or building a digitally renewed dead actor, all ideas of “Final Cut” have gone out of the window.
A big reason to encourage this attitude actually goes back to our favorite decade: the 90s!
In 1992 Ridley Scott released again Blade Runner And called it “The Director’s Cut”. It showed significant changes to the version published by Theater, which actually preferred many fans of the film.
Just a year before the Blade Runner: Director’s Cut In the publication, a continuation of a box office hit by the 80s ended up in the cinemas and was rejected by the audience and critics. And until 1995, this director of this film had the chance to publish the reduction of its director and to change the film to a degree that has effectively changed history.
I am a dietsch for giant giant robots and therefore therefore, that’s why Highlander II: The acceleration failed.
I love Highlander

Ok, very quickly for everyone who didn’t see it Highlander.
Number one: See Highlander. That is the whole list. Seriously, Highlander is incredible. It is one of the most pleasant and stylish fantasy action films of the 80s.
If you don’t want to bring joy into life for some reason, here is the basic idea of Highlander: There are immortal here on earth. They are all intended to fight each other against a mythical goal that is called Prize as a price called Prize. The latter sitting or as the series key word is: “There can only be one.”
If you want to become more detailed, read our rules of Highlander Video. Or, you know, watch Highlander And be a happier person.
The first film took place in the modern day of New York and ended with our hero Connor Macleod, who defeated the last immortal and won the price. It was a perfectly closed loop of a story. When the time came for a sequel, there were many narrative obstacles and production problems.
On the one hand the end of Highlander Connor’s immortality removed, the large hook of the entire concept. In addition, all other immortal were now dead, including Connor’s friend and mentor Ramirez, played by Sean Connery. And they would bring him back, no matter what because he was a big actor in the first film and has extremely fun.
How to do Highlander 2 2

How do you deal with all these problems? Well, the original version of Highlander II: The acceleration made some extreme decisions. The largest had to do with the origin of our heroes and their supernatural skills. In the theater cut by Highlander IIThe story acquires the immortal as Aliens From a planet called Zeist.
In the first film, the acceleration was an explosion of spiritual energy that experienced an immortal after killed another. In the sequel it becomes a magical force that ties conno and Ramirez and enables Ramirez resurrection.
Unnecessary to mention that this would not fly with fans of the original film, but we have a lot more problems to cope with than just have angry fans.
The story takes place in the future 2024 and is mainly about the sign, an electromagnetic barrier that was created to protect people from solar radiation. It works, but also fell into a permanent night and was benefited from a greedy mega corporation.

A perfectly okay Sci-fi Concept, but not something that really in harmony with the sword fighting action of the original. And although the production design of Highlander II is undeniably impressive, the desolate dystopian surroundings of 2024 amazed the audience. As someone who actually lived through in 2024, I can tell myself.
Director Russell Mulcahy returned to the sequel and his talent for visual filmmaking flair is available, but Mulcahy has been removed from production. Highlander II Was filmed in Argentina, but finally had to move the production when Argentina’s economy experienced a devastating crash.
At some point during this chaos, the completion bond company of the film and certain investors were able to take control Highlander IIMulcahy and one of his creative influence from the picture.
A terrible publication

To mention the production of Highlander II Was an ambitious, brave and ultimately doomed to fail. The theater cut, which was published without Mulcahy’s participation, was widely mocked by critics and rejected by the audience, opening on number three health insurance funds on the opening weekend.
Our favorite spawn-loving critic Roger Ebert gave the film rare 0.5 stars and called it incredibly incomprehensible. And we are distributed on this Roger side. Highlander II: The acceleration‘S Theatrical Cut is a confused and chopped film with little recommended, which recommends outside of his novelty status. As much as I have some persistent nostalgia for this version of the film, it is rightly bad.
After director Russell Mulcahy had become a notorious flop and even described one of the worst films of all time, he was able to do a new cut of supervision Highlander II called “The Renegade version”. In this cut, all references to the planet are removed or changed to imply a distant fantastic past instead of a Foreigner Planet.

You will also receive some processing fixes. For example, the theater cut merges two separate swords between Connor and the main villain of the film, Katana, played by Michael Ironside. In the renegade version, these two fights are completely restored. And I will never say no more Michael Ironside.
The renewed version was a slightly accessible cut of Highlander II: The acceleration After its publication and because it was considered an improvement, there was no significant demand for home video versions of the theater cut.
So unless you saw Highlander II In the theater, according to its original VHS or LaserDisc publication, they have never seen the original cut of the film on television in the 90s. This continues today, whereby widespread copies of the film are either the renegade version or the special edition, another newly configured cut that adds new CG effects.

See, there is no question, the renewal version new Highlander II is superior to the theater cut. It is still not a great film and it is still a pretty bad sequel, but it is certainly a much more showable piece of film processing and stories counting than the theater cut.
However, the fact that Highlander II: The acceleration‘S theater cut was completely pushed away, which I do not support. This version of the film is a piece of film history and deserves the proper preservation, archiving and public accessibility. Just because the makers of Highlander II It does not mean that you made a mistake with your sequel to delete the story.
I am sure there are people out there who love the zeist -filled version of really loved ones Highlander II And you deserve to have a high -quality copy of it that you can watch. Just because a film is bad does not mean that it shouldn’t exist. Highlander II: The acceleration If a failure and those who forget their failures are doomed to repeat them. That is probably the reason why there was no good ones Highlander Film since the first!
If there are zeist apologists out there, I have to hear from you in the comments. Enter the video a like and subscribe to the channel if this is the type of thing you want to see here at Giant Freakin Robot. Try not to lose your head until next time.
