LG G5 OLED TV boosts brightness even further – video
The LG G5 OLED TV increases the brightness even further
This new high-end TV looks to be an early contender for the best picture quality of 2025.
Hello guys, I really appreciate the picture quality and this TV here is perhaps the best picture quality I have ever seen. This is the LG G5. Now I didn’t have much time to look at it. It’s a brand new TV, but this OLED TV looks great from what I’ve seen. So the big difference between the G5 and last year’s G4 is the brightness. LG said it has improved brightness by 40%. Now I can test this later. I’ll have to take my word for it now, but I’ll take a look at it here at LG. In the demo suite it looks really bright and of course this combined with the brightness and black levels of OLED means that the blackness of the screen is very, very dark even in a room with a lot of ambient light. This is pretty important. This is not the brightest room, but there is some light here, and I can see that even though there is some light in the room, the black levels are maintained, and you get a really great combination of contrast because the black levels are better and again say they are better than last year. By suppressing ambient light and maintaining excellent contrast, I was able to take a quick look at the G5’s image quality, and I have to say that what I saw is truly impressive. Now, this isn’t a real comparison to its competitors. It’s a single glance of me at the TV, but it’s really bright. I watched in vivid mode, the mode with the highest picture quality. The more accurate Cinema modes will be a little less bright, but overall it looks like it does justice to the improved brightness and of course the excellent blacks. levels. I’m pretty excited about it. They’ve also added a 165Hz refresh rate, which could provide some improvement for gaming. But to make a long story short, it’s very similar to last year’s G4, except for the improved brightness and suppression of ambient light in the room. Now this TV is available in 55 to 97 inches, but only the 83, 77, 65 and 55 inch sizes offer all of these picture quality benefits. It will be expensive, a price will not be announced a little later. year, so we’ll see how it compares to the best OLED TVs on the market later this year. So this isn’t the only TV I’ve tested here at LG. They also have their transparent TV from last year. It’s now on the market for around $60,000, so you’ll want to get your wallets out. This is the really cool technology that can range from completely transparent to little black panels rolled up to make them look more like a regular TV, really like a first designer TV. Still amazing technology, though. Incredibly expensive. They also have their M5 series which is wireless display technology so they say the picture quality is exactly the same as the G. It will of course be more expensive because it uses a separate box to get the signals from your Connect your console, your cable box or whatever to the TV wirelessly to send the game. So they improved the wireless technology a little bit. They say you can now put the box in a closet, which is pretty cool as long as there is no metal in the closet and transfer between the box and the box is possible. The TV really looks exactly like an HDMI cable from the demo they had set up here. Pretty cool for that. LG also announces the C5 series of OLED TVs. This was my favorite high-end TV for the money last year, and it’s very similar to the 2024 model, although it’s said to be slightly brighter, just like the G, so we’ll take a look at that too. It is also available in a wider range of screen sizes. That’s a lot of OLED TVs from LG here at CES 2025. I can’t wait to try them out a little later this year.
