Lara Trump, President-elect Trump’s daughter-in-law, said Saturday she is withdrawing from the Florida Republican nomination Marco Rubio Seat in the US Senate.
“After an incredible amount of thought, consideration and the encouragement of so many, I have decided to remove my name from consideration for the U.S. Senate,” she wrote on X on Saturday.
The president-elect has named Rubio secretary of state.
“I could not have been more honored to serve as co-chair of the RNC in the highest-stakes election of our lives, and I am truly humbled by the incredible support I have received from the people of our country and here at large “The state of Florida,” Lara Trump added.

Trump, the wife of Eric Trump, the president-elect’s son, resigned as co-chair of the Republican National Committee earlier this month.
“I’ve read so many of your kind messages and I can’t thank you enough,” Lara Trump said, adding that she had a “big announcement that I’d like to share in January.”
She said she remains “incredibly passionate about public service and looks forward to serving our country again at some point in the future. In the meantime, I wish Governor DeSantis the best of luck in this appointment.”
The president-elect had previously pressed DeSantis Lara was named as Rubio’s successor, a source close to his political circle told Fox News Digital, but he later told reporters that he didn’t necessarily expect he would choose her.

“That’s his decision,” the president-elect added.
Rubio’s successor in the Senate will be appointed by Florida Governor Ron DeSantis and will serve the remaining two years of Rubio’s term.
In 2026, the seat will be open for a full six-year term.

Lara Trump previously said she was “seriously considering” the job, although she wasn’t sure it was right for her.

DeSantis previously said he would make one Deadline until the beginning of January.
Lara Trump did not immediately respond to Fox News Digital’s request for comment.
