The Islamic Center for Trade Development (ICDT) called on Thursday in Rabat to intensify commercial cooperation and investments between member countries of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC). In her speech at the 23rd Meeting of Economic Advisers of Member States accredited to Morocco, ICDT Director General Latifa Elbouabdellaoui emphasized the importance of increased economic integration for expanding markets and diversifying value chains.
Elbouabdellaoui announced the launch of several initiatives in 2025, covering strategic areas such as health, food security, female entrepreneurship and the digitalization of trade. She reiterated ICDT’s determination to work closely with Member States and international partners to address global economic challenges and promote inclusive growth.
Morocco plays a key role in this dynamic, recalled Youssef Zahoui, director of international trade relations at the Ministry of Industry and Trade. He highlighted the Kingdom’s strategic position as a regional center for investment and international trade, as well as its commitment to supporting initiatives to promote intra-OIC trade.
The meeting brought together representatives of various Moroccan ministries, international organizations and economic institutions, as well as delegations from the countries organizing the ICDT trade fairs and exhibitions in 2025, including Chad, Senegal, Uganda and Cameroon. The discussions focused on upcoming projects and cooperation prospects to strengthen the integration of member economies within the OIC.
