Modi, who has made his first official visit to the Maldives since winning a third term in the past year, also emphasized that India will remain the “first aid” for the country, which has around 525,000 inhabitants.
“India will continue to support the Maldives in strengthening its defense skills,” he said.
“Peace, stability and prosperity in the region of the Indian Ocean are our common goals.”
India was concerned that after the election of President Mohamed Muizzu, the Maldives died on an anti-India platform in the direction of the orbit of his rival China.
Since Muizzu came to power, he broke the tradition by deciding to travel to China before visiting India.
He also secured the withdrawal of a small contingent of the Indian military personnel, which ran two search and rescue helicopters and a reconnaissance plane, enlightening on the archipelago.
Muizzus movements briefly set the relationship with Neu-Delhi before India contributed to the fact that the $ 7.5 billion economy had shut down their debts when the Maldives had difficulty bringing tourists to their white sandy beaches and luxury resorts.

On Friday, Muizzu said that the credit line from India would be used to strengthen the security forces of the Maldives and to improve health care, housing and education.
“India’s persistent support of the Maldives through the export of essential goods is a key facet of our bilateral cooperation,” he said.
Modi is said to leave the archipelago on Saturday after taking part in the 60th independence day of the country in the capital, male.
