Meta plans to invest almost $65 billion in the development of artificial intelligence in 2025 and announced its CEO Mark Zuckerberg. This major investment aims to strengthen the group’s technological capabilities, in particular through the construction of a huge data center and an increase in recruitment in the field of AI.
According to Zuckerberg, this data center will be unprecedented and will help increase Meta’s computing power, aiming to reach more than 1.3 million graphics processing units technological industry.
In parallel, Meta plans to intensify its research and development efforts by acquiring new computer chips to optimize its products, in particular the AI assistants and the Ray-Ban Connected glasses. The company has already announced a $10 billion data center project in Louisiana, marking its long-term commitment to this strategic sector.
This announcement comes in a context of strong competition, two days after OpenAI, Softbank and Oracle announced a $100 billion joint venture to develop AI infrastructure in the US. Given this growing competition, Meta intends to accelerate its investments to remain a key player in the artificial intelligence race.
