I am always down to try a new social app (a face I made SoPresent So Sure), especially when it comes to sharing photos. And the trendy app sharing app of the moment is Yope (available on iOS And Android). Introduced in September 2024 Currently has 2.2 million active users per month and 800,000 daily active users, many of whom are in investor-coated gene Z-demography.
I am not part of Gen Z, but from today I am one of the millions of people who used the app this month. It’s fun and everything, but I am not sure whether I will make it into this over 800,000 cohorts of daily users. Here is why and what you need to know about Yope.
So what is Yope?
The easiest way to describe Yope is to say that it is like a private Instagram with a group chat. (I never have the attraction of a private Instagram account add friends and then publish your pictures in these groups. And that is basically. The images create a stream that everyone can consider in the small group, and You can choose to make you appear on your blocking screen. The problem for me was a lack of friends to put in a group. I immediately synchronized my contacts cousins saved on my phone, and nobody had it too.

I called it “Pals” and Dani and I spent some time to upload pictures in the stream. It was cool for a few minutes, but it quickly got old with only two people. Is Yope worth downloading?
Yope is easy to use, but this is basically everything it does.

In recent years I have read a lot of discourse on how the pendulum of a cultural desire to post for the masses and to withdraw to a compulsion to post and interact with them. Instead of tweeting or publishing on a public Instagram, many people Do It seems to be like to be in small, interesting specific discord or telegram channels, in a way that is reminiscent of an earlier internet era in which a chat rooms visited to find like-minded people.
Personally, I am not one who wants more curated interactive online experience, so I don’t really agree with Yope. Even if many of my friends used it, I would prefer to see everything in a mess than seven by curated group feeds. But maybe that sounds good for you.

The contact synchronization is seamless (provided you have contacts that actually use the app)

There is no filter and there is a minimal risk that your photos will be seen by someone you don’t want to see, unless your friends screenshot and share (making a screenshot does not trigger notification to the group)

Lack of characteristics does not mean overwhelming. All you can do is to publish photos in your group stream

I personally will not use Yope any further, at least not the way I used it The similar depth for a long route in the summer of 2022. This does not mean that it does not continue to take part in traction with users who actually want an app that mixes Instagram with a group chat.
