Strava and Chipotle have launched one Marketing partnership These are three different ways to potentially win free food. Two of those options are to go outside and run on Chipotle-branded Strava segments, walk, or use a wheelchair (no bikes, unfortunately). Here’s what it’s all about and which parts of the challenge give you the best chance of winning free food.
The easiest way to get a free meal: sign up for text messages
The first thing you should do if you want to make the most of this promotion is sign up for the No Quitters Day text list – sorry, motivational SMS community. Click here to registerany time through January 9th.
On January 10th, you will receive a text message with instructions to receive one of 50,000 free “Lifestyle Bowls.” A lifestyle bowl is essentially a burrito bowl. They come in variants like the Plant Powered Bowl (with Sofritas) and the High Protein Bowl (with double chicken).
(Why January 10th? Strava has previously identified the second Friday in January, the day when people tend to give up on their resolutions; hence “Giving Up Day.”)
The way to get the most free food possible: Live in one of these 25 cities and walk a lot
Strava sets up “segments” to compete in 25 specific cities. A stage is a section of road that has a leaderboard associated with it in the Strava app. When you track an activity (with your phone or a smartwatch) and that activity includes a named segment, you will receive credit for completing that segment. If you run in a popular park, you’ve probably run countless sections without realizing it.
However, to participate in this challenge, you must find one of the official challenge segments and complete it as many times as possible. Whoever completes this segment the most in January of this year will receive Local Legend status (this is also a standard feature of segments in Strava), and at the end of the month, the local legend will receive Chipotle Rewards credits, which are good for a year Main course per week. An entrée can be a burrito, a bowl, an order of three tacos, a quesadilla, or a salad. It does not include children’s meals, “3-point meals” or individual tacos.
The The full rules for the City Challenge can be found hereincluding links to the segments so you can see where they are. The sections are generally short, around 0.1 to 0.2 miles. They are present in 25 different cities, including 23 in the USA and one each in Paris and London. In the US, lucky cities include Atlanta, Boston, Chicago, Houston, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Miami, New York City and Washington, DC.
Another way to win: Live in (or visit) the city that earns the most miles
This final opportunity to win groceries doesn’t require you to do anything – but the city that earns the most miles on its Chipotle segment will have a buy-one-get-one-free offer at its local Chipotle locations Offer a specified location and future date. You don’t have to be a runner or have a Strava account; Just keep an eye out for the action.
