How to help those affected by the LA fires

I have compiled a list of relevant information that may be helpful to those affected by the heartbreaking fires in Los Angeles.

Here is some of the information I collected and I tried to post things that are relevant to those working in the gaming industry.

The gaming community has already been hit hard by disasters such as layoffs in recent years. Los Angeles is perhaps home to the world’s largest concentration of gaming companies and employees. Its epicenter is Santa Monica, which is dangerously close to the Pacific Palisades fire, which is not yet contained. There are reports on social media of several people in the gaming industry losing their homes among the estimated 100,000 people living in the evacuation zones. So far, 24 people have died in what is probably the worst property damage disaster in the region’s history.

There are many ways to help, for example by donating or providing services. And there’s a lot to be wary of as scammers prey on unsuspecting benefactors, they say Los Angeles Police Department. There is also a hotline you can call if you have encountered any Insurance fraud.

Netflix said It donates $10 million to various organizations including the Los Angeles Fire Department FoundationThe California Community Foundation, World Central KitchenThe Film and Television Fundand the Entertainment Community Fund.

Many people are moving to emergency accommodation or hotels. Here is a list of hotels and ways to get in touch with them.

TheKindnessHub – a decentralized relief effort – has created a group to bring people together and provide a hotline for those who need help.

Charity Navigator And Guidestar have lists of reputable charities that can assist with fire relief. The Wildfire Relief Fund distributes cash gifts to victims. The The LA Food Bank is here. Animal rescue in the area can be found here. And here is this Climate Crisis Relief Fund.

Metallica’s All Within My Hands Foundation donated $500,000 to Los Angeles fire relief.
