Handicrafts: Marrakech is an export hit
Exports of handicraft products in Marrakech increased significantly in 2024. According to the Regional Directorate of Handicrafts and Social and Solidarity Economy of Marrakesh-Safi, exports of handicraft products reached DH458.5 million last year, representing a growth of 41% compared to 2023, they amounted to DH325.14 million.
This performance is explained by the good dynamics of demand in the American market (USA), with an increase of more than 80%, as well as the increase in exports to Arab countries and Spain, which increased by 61%.
With 187 million DH or about 20% of exports, the United States represents the leading market, followed by France (9%) and Arab countries, which account for 3% of exports.
As for the type of products, carpets, pottery, copper and wooden items are among the most exported products in 2024, accounting for more than 60% of Marrakech’s exports.
