Hall of Fame quarterback fears Caleb Williams may be losing ‘confidence’ in Bears’ terrible season
Pro Football Hall of Fame member Troy Aikman expressed concern about this Chicago Bears Quarterback Caleb Williams on Monday night amid a dismal season that saw the Bears’ losing streak drop to eight in a row with a loss to the Minnesota Vikings.
Williams suffered a heavy blow Vikings linebackerr Jihad Ward during the second half of the Bears’ 30-12 loss, but the rookie’s mental fitness seemed to be a bigger issue for Aikman than his physical fitness.
“When you mentioned that we were watching him on the sideline, he was grimacing and in tremendous pain,” Aikman said of Joe Buck during the ESPN broadcast The New York Post.

“And when I watch him, you can tell he’s a defeated guy. I mentioned that he never went through anything like this at any point in his career. What you worry about is a rookie quarterback losing confidence.”
Bears interim coach Thomas Brown appears to believe Williams is in “good shape” mentally despite the toll this season has taken on all players.
The Vikings extend their winning streak to seven games with an easy win over the Bears
“I think mentally he’s in good shape,” Brown said Tuesday. “Of course, like all of us, he is frustrated because he just didn’t get the result. But his confidence is not shaken.”
Williams has been sacked a total of 58 times this season, which is the most in the league, just eight times less than the franchise record for sacks allowed.
“I think I have a few bruises and bruises,” Williams said after the game, adding that he didn’t think the sacks had affected him “mentally.”
