Green energies: Morocco accelerates its permanent and low -carbon revolution

The government manager, Aziz Akhannouch, said this Wednesday that Morocco, under the direction of SM King Mohammed VI, had initiated a deep, progressive and permanent energy conversion. When he entered the opening of the 16ᵉ Energy Conference, he emphasized the progress of the kingdom in Solar, wind, hydraulics and recently in green hydrogen.

Akhannouch welcomed the driving role of national institutions such as Masen and Onee as well as the inclusion of international partners, including France, a guest of honor for this issue. It was the need to further integrate renewable energies in all areas of economic and social life and to use the opportunities of green water.

The government manager also emphasized the importance of the strategic connection between energy and water in a context of longer water stress. He mentioned the implementation of a large desalination program that was fed by renewable energies in order to react to both environmental problems and water safety.

Finally, Akhannouch confirmed that the energy transition to Morocco is based on an anticipatory vision that was adopted by proactive political decisions, a renovated regulatory framework and an increased opening of investments. The kingdom therefore intends to consolidate its role as a regional energy platform and continue its trajectory into a fair and permanent sober carbon development model.
