I had a fun week of driving this week. Tuesday I went back with my group, a popular local trip, “around the reservoirs” and on the Casa Loma Road. This was on my upright Si joint belt and my Si tolerated him well. I still make a good time a few times a week. I could go much further without any problems. I am glad that when I travel I visit my brother in Phoenix or in other cases when I go a lot on foot while traveling when cycling is not so comfortable.
My other trips and upper body training went well, except on Wednesday, when I was a little too much about my heart rate while driving. It turned out that I accidentally took an additional dose of metoprolol the night before, which kept my heart rate lower than the range I shoot for. What I enjoy the most is a beautiful brisk, stationary state ride, which usually makes an average heart rate for me near 110. I have decided to concentrate on doing a lot more of it and cutting back on a hard trip a week. This is very similar to the basic training technology of Dr. Phil Maffetonealso referred to as the “MAF method” (for maximum aerobic function). If I have followed this to the letter, I should actually leave out one hard day, but I would like to maintain the strength and speed that I have already “built the base” on the other days. I carried out a “MAF time trial” on Friday, which sees how quickly you can complete a course while you remain the heart rate for me at the most. I drove a Local course of almost 7 milesThe 31 minutes lasted 45 seconds (no electrical assist). The idea is to repeat this once a month and if my aerobic capacity has improved time, should continue to decrease. It will be interesting to see how this goes out, but I can see so far that this is a very entertaining way to train.
