Fulham beat Chelsea, Forest beat Spurs

Boxing Day football can prove to be one of the most entertaining times of the Premier League season and there was plenty on offer this year.

At the start of the game, Manchester City dropped more points and drew 1-1 with Everton, extending their winless streak even further.

But there were five more games on the schedule in the 3 p.m. slot.

Wolves then host Manchester United before Liverpool take on Leicester.

Read on to see how the teams fared on Thursday afternoon.

Bournemouth 0-0 Crystal Palace

On the south coast between Bournemouth and Crystal Palace it wasn’t a classic.

The pair played out a goalless draw, a rare sight on Boxing Day.

Andoni Iraola had the chance to lead his team into the top four but failed to capitalize in front of his home crowd.

It was an important point for Palace, who have now moved slightly away from the relegation zone.

Chelsea – Fulham 1:2

Chelsea dropped points again under Enzo Maresca, this time at home to Fulham.

The Blues took the lead through the reliable Cole Palmer and appeared to be in control of the game for the most part.

But the Cottagers weren’t about to sit back and accept defeat, scoring a second-half equaliser.

Harry Wilson scored again from the bench to earn Fulham a vital point in the west London derby.

And Rodrigo Muniz got the visiting fans in the mood when he scored the winner in the 95th minute at Stamford Bridge.

Newcastle 3-0 Aston Villa

Newcastle’s good form continued as they defeated European rivals Aston Villa.

It was a quick start for the hosts, who broke through in the second minute thanks to Anthony Gordon.

Jhon Duran was sent off for Villa, albeit quite harshly, putting the visitors at a major disadvantage.

A second goal from Alexander Isak ended the game, while Bruno Guimaraes also prevented a goal in the final stages.

And Joelinton’s third goal was the icing on the cake for the Magpies.

Nottingham Forest 1-0 Tottenham

Nottingham Forest handed Tottenham their ninth defeat of the season under Ange Postecoglou.

The hosts had little sight of the ball, but took their chance in the first half.

Morgan Gibbs-White played through Anthony Elanga, who flicked the ball over Fraser Forster to score the only goal of the game.

Spurs looked toothless in attack, particularly Heung-Min Son, who was a shadow for Ange Postecoglou’s men.

Southampton 0-1 West Ham

West Ham moved level on points with Spurs after beating Southampton at St Mary’s.

It was a spirited performance from the Saints, but they didn’t have enough strength to break through the Hammers.

Captain Jarrod Bowen scored the only goal of the game but it was more than enough to secure the three points.

The win eases the pressure on Julen Lopetegui and West Ham move into the top half of the table.
