Mohamed Jabaly is stateless in Norway when the border with Gaza suddenly closes.
Palestinian director Mohamed Jabaly travels abroad for the first time when he is invited to Norway for a film exchange. But he is stuck in the Arctic winter and cannot return to Gaza. Jabaly is denied a work permit and has to leave Norway. With nowhere else to go, he appeals the decision.
Meanwhile, his documentary “Ambulance” achieves international success as one appeal after another is rejected. Jabaly refuses to give up his Palestinian identity and insists on recognition for his work. He decides to take his case to court, which results in an unprecedented verdict. Meanwhile, he lives a parallel life online, staying connected to his family in Gaza and making this award-winning film for his mother and his city.
From Gaza to the Arctic is a documentary by Mohamed Jabaly.
