Fouzi Lekjaa, President of the Royal Maroccan Football Federation (FRMF), was re-elected as a member of the FIFA Council. The vote took place during the General Assembly of African Football (CAF) in Cairo, in which Lekjaa secured 49 out of 52 votes. A ballot was invalid.
This victory shows Lekjaa’s influence on Africans and International football. It also holds it in the CAF Executive Committee, a position that he secured for the first time on March 16, 2017. The Algerian candidate Mohamed Raouraoua with 41 to 7 votes.
During the same meeting, the South African Business Tycoon Patrice Motseepe was re-elected for a second term without a candidate as CAF President.
Lekjaa has taken over several key roles in the CAF over the years. He leads the financial committee and is also responsible for them 2030 World Cup preparations Organized on home.
He first came to FIFA’s advice in March 2021 and has now secured a second term of four years. He also works in the FIFA’s governance and examination committees.
Lekjaa has headed the FRMF since 2014 and was re -elected in May 2022 for a third term. Under his leadership, Moroccan football has increased steadily and has gained recognition on the international stage.
