Leaders from around the world express their sincere condolences The USA mourns the death of former President Jimmy Carter, who died on Sunday at the age of 100.
Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel went to X to express condolences following Carter’s death, writing: “My condolences go out to the people and government of the United States, especially to the family and loved ones of President James Carter. Our people will remember with gratitude his efforts to improve relations, his visits to Cuba and his declaration in favor of the freedom of the (Cuban) Five.”
In his only term in the White House, Carter finalized the Camp David Accords between Israel and Egypt, helped move the world further away from nuclear proliferation with the second Strategic Arms Limitation Treaty (SALT), and signed the treaties over the Panama Canal, ending a century of direct American control of the crucial canal and deregulation of the country’s airline industry.

Carter was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 2002 for his efforts to find peaceful solutions to international conflicts, many of which have been left behind world leader to recognize his work in promoting economic and social development and human rights.
“We express our deepest condolences to the American people and the former’s family US President Jimmy Carter at his death. He was a leader who served at a time when Ukraine was not yet independent, and yet he wholeheartedly stood with us in our ongoing fight for freedom. We deeply appreciate his unwavering commitment to the Christian faith and democratic values, as well as his unwavering support for Ukraine in the face of Russia’s unprovoked aggression. He dedicated his life to promoting world peace and defending human rights. Let us remember this today: peace is important, and the world must stand united against those who threaten these values. May his memory be eternal,” he said Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.
Long-time allies of the USA King Charles of the Royal Family also took to social media to express his sadness.
“It was with great sadness that I learned of the death of former President Carter. He was a dedicated public servant and dedicated his life to promoting peace and human rights. His dedication and humility served as an inspiration to many, and I remember him with gratitude during his visit to the United Kingdom in 1977. My thoughts and prayers are with President Carter’s family and the American people at this time.”

Chancellor Olaf Scholz wrote on X: “We mourn together with our American friends the loss of their former President Jimmy Carter. The USA has lost a committed fighter for democracy. The world has lost a great mediator for peace in the Middle East and for human rights.”

Carter died at his home in Georgia surrounded by his family.
“My father was a hero, not just to me, but to everyone who believes in peace, human rights and selfless love,” said Chip Carter, the former president’s son. “My brothers, my sister and I shared it with the rest of the world through these shared beliefs. The world is our family because he brought people together, and we thank you for honoring his memory by continuing to live these shared beliefs.”
