Fez Architecture: Advocating for the design of resilient, sustainable and inclusive living spaces
In his first trip to Fes, Adib Benbrahim led the 39th National Architects’ Day yesterday, Tuesday, January 14, 2025, under the theme: “The Citizen Architect in the Face of the Consequences of Climate Change: Energy and Water Issues.”
The opportunity for the new Secretary of State to the Minister for National Spatial Planning, Urban Planning, Housing and Urban Policy, responsible for housing, to also recall the key points of national policy with a view to “reducing greenhouse gas emissions” and the importance of the role of architects in ” Building and modernizing the quality of our country’s built environment and preserving its architectural heritage, highlighting economic development and “sustainable social”.
“In line with the enlightened vision of His Majesty the King, our country, as an active member of the international community, is firmly committed to a policy to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. It is also considered a model for renewable energy in Africa.“, said the SE responsible for housing. And continued: “Despite the many challenges, Morocco is increasing ambitious initiatives in the areas of renewable energy, sustainable agriculture and environmental protection. Through a proactive approach, it aims to become a role model for climate resilience at both the African and international levels..”
Given the problems related to climate change and its impact on the quality of life of our fellow citizens, the National Council of the Order of Architects has focused the debates on the role of the citizen architect as an essential actor in the design of resilient and sustainable buildings and inclusive living spaces. The aim is to anticipate future crises and act actively to reduce the ecological footprint of construction, while conserving natural resources and involving communities in the process of sustainable transformation.

Note that the work of this 39th edition took the form of several conferences that provided space for debates and exchanges on topics of common interest within a rich and diverse scientific and cultural program. Renowned personalities and experts in the field actively participated in this event.
