Sen. Eric Schmitt, R-Mo., says H1-B visas are being “abused” in the U.S. and argues that many American workers are being forced to “train their replacements.”
Schmitt spoke on Fox News on Sunday alongside host Shannon Bream and contradicted an advance More migrant workers from Elon Musk.
“I think there is an important, thoughtful debate. But the context we need to consider here, I think, is that American workers have been left behind by this economy. “Many factory jobs were moved abroad,” said Schmittt.
“I think the abuses of the H-1B program are obvious where you have, so to speak, the sons and daughters of these factory workers who have lost their jobs, taken white-collar jobs as accountants and are, you know, training them,” replacement workers, the foreign workers undercutting their wages,” he continued.

Schmitt further argued that the US needs to “invest” more in American workers and defend President Trump’s deportation plans.

“The idea of deporting people who are here illegally is not a new concept.
