Education system: Akhannouch takes over the stocks and remedy the priorities


The government manager, Aziz Akhannouch, confirmed on Friday in Rabat the commitment of the government to continue the reform of education, training and scientific research system in accordance with high royal guidelines. He headed a meeting of the National Commission to monitor this reform and insisted to speed up the implementation of the necessary legislative and regulatory measures and at the same time optimize the financial resources mobilized for this purpose.

This meeting made it possible to examine the progress of the sectoral plans and to follow the application of the framework law 51.17, which is a basis for the development of human capital and the consolidation of the social state. Akhannouch emphasized that the broad representativity of institutional actors within the commission reflects the importance of convergence of education policy.

The discussions focused on progress in preschool, in particular on the expansion of the formation of children aged 4 to 5 years, whose education rate achieved 83% in 2024-2025. The program of the “groundbreaking facilities”, which aims to improve the quality of education, also expands 2,626 primary schools and 232 universities, which benefits 1.3 million students.

The university formation has increased the indicators, with the rate increased from 39.9% to 47.1% after the bakalaur. The number of facilities also rose from 411 in 2019-2020 to 458 in 2024-2025. Vocational training, on the other hand, modernizes in order to better meet the requirements of the labor market by concentrating on new skills and diversification of the offer.

Akhannouch confirmed the government’s request to speed up the implementation of structural measures before the end of the current mandate. He called for continuous mobilization of the actors concerned to ensure high -quality education that affects equal opportunities and innovation according to the strategic vision of the kingdom.
