The inclusion of rural women in Morocco could achieve an economic profit of 25.3 billion DH, the high Commissioner Chakib Benmoussa on Tuesday.
This profit corresponds to 2.2% of gross domestic product (GDP), said Benmoussa during a conference debate, who under the topic “Entry of women in Morocco: Understanding of the challenges to act better”, in the initiative of the high planning commission (HCP), in cooperation with women and with the support of the delegation of the European Union (EU).
Benmoussa also remembered that women in rural areas face unpaid jobs, a low access to health and education services as well as difficulties in access to real estate and financing. Note that the HCP presented the results of three studies on strengthening women and their integration into the labor market as part of the celebration of the international day of women’s rights a day on Tuesday.
During one of the panels, the institution emphasized that the assumption of measures to reduce wage discrimination, the setting of distortions, domestic loads, and the increase in productivity and investment in social infrastructure could increase the participation of women by around 9 percentage points and the progression of GDP by 3 %.
