Dyche is confident he leaves Toffees in “good shape”.
Sean Dyche says he did everything he could to “protect the badge” and is confident he left Everton on “stable footing” and with the team in “good shape”.
Dyche was sacked by new owners the Friedkin Group just hours before the FA Cup game against Peterborough United last week.
He left Everton in 16th place after winning just three of 19 Premier League games this season and was replaced by David Moyes.
In a statement released by the League Managers Association, Dyche said: “It has been an honor to lead Everton, a football club with a distinguished tradition and an enormous fan base in Liverpool and around the world, through one of its most difficult periods in its history.” Despite the challenges we faced, I wanted to ensure that the club’s narrative focuses on the positive direction it will take in the future and that the team can focus on competing in the Premier League in the present .
“I would like to thank my staff, the players and everyone involved who made their contribution, because without their support and expertise it simply would not have been possible. I would also like to thank the fans who were often there for us when we all needed their support.”
“Huge respect” for Moyes’ return
He added: “The time is right to leave the club as the team is in good shape. David is a manager for whom I have great respect and I believe that he and his staff will help take the club forward again and build on the stable foundation we have created over the last two years.
“I wish everyone all the best for the future, including the new owners, who I hope will take the club to the next level and deliver the success that every Evertonian wants.”
“My role as administrator has been fulfilled and I will forever be very proud of it. Having been through some extremely difficult situations, I never lost faith in everyone around me and we did everything we could to protect the badge, protect it and the name of Everton Football Club.”
Moyes coached Everton from 2002 to 2013 and his second spell begins tonight when the Toffees host Aston Villa at Goodison Park.
