Digital euro centimeter closer to reality: will the Europeans trust a virtual currency?

Nowadays we use cash less than before and we rely more on private tech platforms such as Apple Pay and Revolut to manage our finances and make purchases. In this ultra-digital age, the EU would like to keep up with consumer behavior and make sure that it does not lose control of its money system to private companies or large technologies that are align with political powers that the EU does not like.
