Development of the “Moudawana”: Establishment of an interministerial commission
Minister Delegate and Government Spokesman Mustapha Baitas in charge of relations with Parliament announced on Thursday the formation of a Development Commission composed of ministries directly affected by the revision of the Family Code and the General Secretariat of the Government (SGG).
During a press conference following the weekly meeting of the Governing Council, Mr. Baitas stressed that the Council, chaired by the Head of Government, “has decided to form a Development Commission composed of the ministerial bodies of the ministries directly affected by the revision .” of the Family Code, taking into account the special features of this law”.
These are, he specified, the Ministry of Justice, the Ministry of Housing and Islamic Affairs and the Ministry of Solidarity, Social Inclusion and Family, as well as the General Secretariat of the Government, which have been requested for their expertise and contribution given the overlap between the revision of the Family Code and a number of other laws in force, as well as certain draft texts currently under consideration, you must submit a proposal to this Commission in Parliament.
The Development Commission, the Minister added, will involve legal and judicial expertise as well as Ulemas, just as it may also open up to expertise from other areas or specialties if necessary, whereby the presence or cooperation of the said Commission would be considered useful.
