France manager Didier Deschamps said His contract expires after the 2026 World Cup the job is offered.
Ex-Real Madrid Manager Zidane is admired by French FA President Philippe Diallo and secured in public surveys to take over when Deschamps’ reign after 14 years.
“Zidane is an excellent candidate for the role of the French national team trainer – a natural choice and I would add, a predictable” told L’Equipe.
“But I’m not sure if he would want it. The last time we saw each other was in the summer of 2023 and we will meet again next summer. We have great respect for each other. “
Zidane Record: a France ‘landmark’
The France legend and the Ballon d’Or winner from 1998 have not achieved Real Madrid since the second of his two spells after 26 months in 2021.
