Deadly clashes in Assad stronghold as loyalists defend former regime operatives

At least 17 people were killed in Syria’s Tartus province on Wednesday as security forces under the country’s new leadership clashed with remnants of Bashar al-Assad’s regime, including an official linked to the notorious Saydnaya Prison, a war monitor said.
