Following the second fan voting return for the 2024-25 NBA All-Star Game, Damian Lillard ranks third among Eastern Conference guards behind LaMelo Ball and Donovan Mitchell. As the Milwaukee guard seeks his ninth All-Star selection, Bucks frontman Giannis Antetokounmpo has urged fans to vote.
In a post to his Instagram Story on Thursday morning, The Greek Freak posted a picture of himself and Lillard on the court and urged fans to vote for his Milwaukee co-star.
In response, Lillard reposted Antetokounmpo’s story in his own story, adding:

Lillard is just over 161,500 votes out of second place, while Antetokounmpo leads not only the Eastern Conference frontcourt vote, but also all players across the league when it comes to fan voting.
Both teams’ starters are selected based on votes from fans, NBA players and the media. Reserve players are then selected based on votes from coaches across the league, with each conference selecting seven reserve players.
Ahead of All-Star Weekend in February, the starters will be announced on January 23rd on TNT, with the reserves announced on January 30th during the network’s TNT NBA Tip-Off show.
Let’s look at Damian Lillard’s case for an All-Star selection this season
As mentioned, Damian Lillard is currently ranked third among guards in the Eastern Conference. With LaMelo Ball nearly 500,000 votes ahead of Lillard and more than 300,000 votes ahead of Donovan Mitchell, it looks like he will likely receive his second All-Star selection.
Now the question is whether Damian Lillard can overtake Donovan Mitchell to secure his spot as an All-Star starter or whether he will have to hope for a reserve spot.
If the current standings hold and Donovan Mitchell secures the second seed in the Eastern Conference, Lillard still has a good chance of earning his ninth All-Star selection.
Lillard is averaging 24.8 points, 4.4 rebounds, 7.4 assists and 1.1 steals per game.
At the same time, he has improved both his field goal percentage and 3-point percentage compared to last year, helping lead Milwaukee to fifth place in the Eastern Conference despite a slow start to the season.

Given that Damian Lillard has a strong case to be selected as the Eastern Conference guard, it’s clear that there is stiff competition.
