Crown Prince Moulay El Hassan, Princess Lalla Khadija Start Ramadan Aid Initiative


Rabat – Crown Prince Moulay El Hassan and Princess Lalla Khadija started the solidarity initiative “Ramadan 1446” on Monday in Rabat.

They marked the beginning of a program that offers one million families during the Holy Month, around five million people, essential food supply.

For over 25 years, this initiative has been a gesture of support for communities in need of protection. It reflects Morocco’s deeply rooted values of compassion and solidarity and ensures that the needy receive support at a crucial period of the year.

With a budget of MAD 330 million (33 million US dollars), this was distributed by 34,280 tons of food this year.

The help includes staple foods such as flour, milk, rice, oil, sugar, tomato concentrate, pasta, lentils and tea.

The program prioritizes widows, older people and people with disabilities, of which many difficulties have to secure daily necessities.

Most beneficiaries who made 74%live in rural areas. The program reaches 1,054 municipalities across the country and ensures that help goes beyond the urban centers.

For the first time, the authorities used the Unified Social Registry, a system to evaluate the socio -economic conditions of the families, to update the list of recipients.

The Ministry of the Interior and the Ministry of Foundations and Islamic Affairs have also grown financially, which with the Mohammed V Foundation for the broader efforts of solidarity to support the needy.

Thousands of volunteers and social workers contribute to distributing help, while local and regional committees monitor the process to ensure fair and efficient delivery.

Several national institutions, including the royal forces, the Royal Gendarmerie and the Ministry of Agriculture, contributed to this noble efforts.

The Ministry of Health and the National Food Safety Office monitor the quality of the food supplies to ensure that they meet the security standards.

During the start event, Crown Prince Moulay El Hassan and Princess Lalla Khadija personally presented food baskets to 20. Their presence brought the initiative a personal touch and reinforced the spirit of solidarity that defines the holy month.
