Flora Bolter, co-director of the Jean Jaurès Foundation’s LGBTI+ Observatory, says on FRANCE 24 that the claims about Brigitte Macron’s gender are a “perfect storm” of transphobic discourse, conspiracy theories and fake news. She adds that some of the French first lady’s attempts to clear her name may have been viewed somewhat negatively by the LGBTI+ community because the idea of being transgender was implied to be offensive.
