Pakistan national cricket team fast bowler Shaheen Afridi came up with a cryptic answer after being asked about his remainder of the Test series against South Africa and the West Indies. He laughed when he heard the word calm and took a subtle dig at PCB.

Pakistan national cricket team fast bowler Shaheen Afridi has been completely excluded from the Test setup by PCB. The top-class fast bowler played the first Test of the series against the England national cricket team in August last year and was left out of the squad for the final two matches along with Babar Azam, Naseem Shah and Sarfaraz Ahmed.

Shaheen Afridi did not take part in the South Africa Tests and PCB did not name him in the squad for the West Indies series

While Babar Azam and Naseem Shah were back in the team for the South Africa Test series, Afridi missed out and the Pakistan Cricket Board said the pacer was on a break due to workload management. He was also not named in the West Indies series.

During the post-PSL draft press conference, Shaheen Afridi was asked by the reporter, “Shaheen, you were given rest during the South Africa Test series and you are also not a part of the West Indies series.”

“I have been given rest?” – Shaheen Afridi’s cryptic response to rest

In response he laughed and said, ‘I have been given rest?’ (Laughs) That’s a good question.”

“I think if we remember the positive things more, it will be good for our team” – Shaheen Afridi

Shaheen Afridi spoke about Lahore Qalandars squad for the next edition of the PSL. He spoke about new leader Darren Gough, saying his presence will suit the team’s environment and that they can also learn from him.

Afridi also spoke about the importance of having local players in the team. He was aware of the fact that local players’ performances have a big impact on results and stressed that they need to pay attention to the positive things. He added:

“Look, Alhamdulillah, we have won for two seasons. If you look at it, PDB’s local players performed very well. If your local players perform well, the team wins. There are ups and downs. You lose and win the game.” .

“I think if we remember the positive things more, it will be good for our team. Hopefully with Darren Gough coming as a bowler we will learn more things too. Sameen Bhai can tell us a lot about him. So, I think the combination is very good.”

Shaheen Afridi will be keen to set the stage for the Lahore Qalandars in the next edition of the league. The fast bowler had a tough season last year as a bowler and skipper. PSL 2025 is scheduled to be played between April 8th and May 19th.
