CES 2025: Sony just revealed when the second season of “The Last of Us” will be released
In my opinion, Sony may have won CES – and the show hasn’t even officially started yet.
The company did a series of announcements during his big CES media event, including Pricing and availability information for its highly anticipated AFEELA car (a joint partnership with Honda). But it was the final announcement of the evening that particularly caught my attention and excitement.
Sony surprised us all by welcoming Naughty Dog studio head Neil Druckmann to the stage. Druckmann mentioned the studio’s upcoming space adventure game, The intergalactic, But then it turned out that the company had a little announcement to make.

The second season of The Last of Us will be released in April
As expected after a CES launch by Neil Druckmann, Sony presented a new teaser for The Last of Us Season two. Of course, there’s new footage we didn’t see in the season’s first trailer, as well as fascinating snippets of performances from Pedro Pascal, Bella Ramsey, Kaitlyn Dever and Gabriel Luna. I don’t want to spoil the story for anyone who hasn’t played it The Last of Us Part IIbut if you’re a fan of the first season, you’re in the clear.
All in all, the teaser ended with the most important announcement of all CES: the second season starts in April.
Sony hasn’t given an exact April release date, but it’s more information than so far and I’m here for it. I will watch this teaser again and again until the show airs.
Sony is turning more of its games into shows and movies
In addition to The Last of Us In the second season, Sony also announced a Ghost of Tsushima Anime, a film adaptation of Helldivers 2as well as a Horizon Zero Dawn feature film, but the latter is only in the early stages of development.
Sony clearly puts a lot of emphasis on customizing their IP, and I don’t blame them for that. The company touted the box office success of its film Unexplored film, noting that it was proud of other adaptations like Grand Turismo, Twisted metaland of course The Last of Us. The company also reminded audiences of the upcoming film adaptation of Until dawnwith a commercial filmed with actor Peter Stormare.
