BVC: Moroccan investment funds and legal entities dominate transactions in the third quarter of 2024
According to the latest report from the AMMC (Moroccan Capital Market Authority). Moroccan individuals follow with 25.8%, ahead of foreign legal entities (5.9%) and investors through the banking network (5.5%).
UCITS, in a net long position, made purchases of 5.1 billion dirhams (billion dirhams) on sales of 3.8 billion dirhams, a decrease of 4.1% in purchases and 29.1% in sales per year compared to the second quarter 2024 corresponds. Moroccan legal entities, in turn, bought for MAD 3.1 billion and sold for MAD 3.9 billion, a decrease of 43.5% and 17.7%, respectively, compared to the previous quarter.
Moroccan individuals doubled their purchases compared to the third quarter of 2023, reaching MAD 3.3 billion, despite a decrease of 26.6% compared to the second quarter of 2024. Sales followed a similar trend with an annual increase of 89.7% and a quarterly decline of 24.2%. For their part, foreign legal entities recorded a 25.4% increase in their purchases compared to the second quarter of 2024, reaching 731 MDH, while sales fell by 40.6% to 762 MDH.
The total quarterly trading volume in the central and block areas reached 13.1 billion dirhams, an increase of 49.2% compared to the same period in 2023 (8.8 billion dirhams). The MASI and MASI 20 indices closed with a gain of 8.06% and 8.12%, respectively, bringing their cumulative performance since the beginning of 2024 to +18.9% and +17.4%, respectively.
