Bride shot in the attack on wedding celebration in southeastern France


A bride was shot in her wedding night in a village near the southeastern French city of Avignon after masked armed men opened fire, say the local officials.

A suspected attacker was also killed in an obvious fire exchange, and the groom and a 13 -year -old child were seriously wounded during the incident in the village of Goult.

A search with dozens of police officers and a helicopter is in progress for an unknown number of suspects who have managed to flee.

French media report that violence can be associated with drug-related score settlings.

The authorities have opened an investigation into the murder and tried murder.

Around 4:30 a.m. (2:30 a.m. GMT) On Sunday the 27 -year -old bride and the 25 -year -old groom left the wedding celebration in the village hall when the fire opened as an unidentified attacker, reports AFP News Agency.

The first reports indicated that one of the attackers had been run over by the couple, but Avignon prosecutor Florence Gettier described the SUEP as “in exchange”.

The surviving attackers who had arrived by car fled to the shootout on foot, said the prosecutor.

At the time of the attack, a total of 28 people were present in the hall, the police said. A woman was slightly injured in the incident.

The hall was “booked for a wedding of people who do not live in the municipality of Leben” in March, said local mayor Didier Perello.

“I’m outraged,” he added. “We are near cities, I will not name them where we unfortunately saw something like that.”

Guillaume Molinas, a 50-year-old restaurant owner, said he feared that the fatal attack would give the village a “bad names” of around 1,000 inhabitants.

“The last big incident in the village was 125 years ago,” he was quoted by AFP without giving details.
