Borussia Dortmund coach Sahin speaks out on transfer window plans amid Rashford rumours
Borussia Dortmund coach Nuri Sahin says “anything can happen” in the January transfer window but warned the club will “not get carried away” after reports linked him to a loan move for Marcus Rashford from Manchester United connected.
Rashford has spoken of his desire to leave Old Trafford and take on a new challenge after a miserable 18 months and struggling to reach his top form while also making headlines for various off-field incidents.
It has been reported that the player’s entourage has embarked on a European tour, including stops at AC Milan and Dortmund, to discuss a potential move for Rashford.
Sahin is cautious about the activity
Sahin, whose team sits sixth in the Bundesliga before returning from the winter break this Friday against defending champions Bayer Leverkusen, says any new activity has to be right for the club.
When asked about the window, he replied: “Anything can happen. In winter it is not as easy as in summer. We would be willing to do something, but we only do it if it makes us better. We won’t get carried away.”

Rashford might be too expensive
A deal for Rashford wouldn’t be cheap, with United reportedly hoping to give up responsibility for the majority of the striker’s £325,000-a-week salary through a loan deal.
This could prove to be a major obstacle for Dortmund, whose aim is to sign younger players with potential and turn them into top players.
Dortmund ended the first half of the season out of form with just one win in five games in all competitions.
But Sahin believes the visit of Xabi Alonso’s side will bring out the best in his players.
“A win would be extremely important for the table,” he added. “We are playing against a top opponent. We have always performed well against these teams. We want to start the new year with a good game.”
The hosts have to do without Waldemar Anton and Almugera Kabar due to illness, Niklas Sule due to injury and Pascal Gross due to a suspension.
