Blake Miguez receives Trump’s endorsement for House run after abandoning Senate bid

president Donald Trump has endorsed Louisiana state Sen. Blake Miguez, who recently dropped a U.S. Senate bid to run for the U.S. House of Representatives instead.

“It is my great honor to support MAGA warrior Blake Miguez as he runs to represent the great people of Louisiana’s 5th Congressional District,” the president said in a Truth Social post on Wednesday. “Blake Miguez has my full and unqualified endorsement to be the next representative of Louisiana’s 5th Congressional District – HE WILL NOT FILE YOU!”

Miguez thanked the president for his support.

“THANK YOU, President Trump, for your SUPPORT! Louisiana deserves true America First representation in Washington to support the MAGA agenda. President Trump is the greatest president in our country’s history. I am honored to receive the support and look forward to working for Louisiana’s 5th and our country,” he said in a letter post on X

Last year Miguez climbed a US Senate offerHe explained in a campaign video that he was running for the position because Republican Sen. Bill Cassidy of Louisiana “sucks.”

After the House impeached Trump in 2021, Cassidy was among the Republican senators who voted to convict him. However, the Senate vote came after the president had already left office, and the vote ultimately fell short of the threshold for conviction.

Last month, Trump endorsed Rep. Julia Letlow and pledged to support her for the U.S. Senate.

“I heard that Julia is thinking about launching her campaign for U.S. Senate in Louisiana, a place I love and where I WON BIG six times in 2016, 2020 and 2024, including the primaries!” the president declared in a Truth Social post. “Should she decide to take part in this race, Julia Letlow has my full and unconditional approval. RUN, JULIA, RUN!!!”

Letlow, who currently represents Louisiana’s 5th Congressional District, filed for Senate days later.

A press release this week stated that Miguez is now is running for the seat in the U.S. House of Representatives.

“When I announced my campaign for U.S. Senate last year, I promised Louisianans that I would stand with President Trump and fight for an America First agenda that puts Louisiana families first,” Miguez said, according to a Press release. “I remain true to that promise and stand ready to deliver the type of representation that supports President Trump and helps advance the mission of Making America Great Again.”
