After the victory of Real Madrid on Manchester City headlines on Tuesday on Tuesday, four more games for Wednesday were on the cards.
The Belgian side club Brugge hosted the series A Side and the Europa League owner Atalanta, while the Scottish champion Celtic Harry Kane and Bayern Munich welcomed in Glasgow.
The Dutch giants Feyenoord stood AC Milan and Monaco against Benfica.
And there were many goals, drama and controversy to set up some delicious side legs, as the teams offer in the last 16 for a place.

Thanks to a late punishment from Gustaf Nilsson, the Club Brugge secured a decisive 2-1 win over Atalanta.
The Belgian side started Hell and was rewarded in the 15th minute when Ferran Jutgla from Chemsdine Talbis used urgent work and came past Rui Patricio.
Atalanta fought early, but gradually grew into the game and was equalized in the 41st minute. Mario Pasalic professionally saw a header on the net after a Spitzel cross by Davide Zappacosta.
The second half was a Cagier affair in which Atalanta did the better chances, even though they were not in their flowing best.
Lazar Samardzic and Zappacosta almost gave visitors the lead, but Simon Mignolet was firmly in the Club Brugge Tor. The game seemed to go to a tie until the injury time when Nilsson went under an air challenge from Isak Hien.
Despite the angry protests by Atalanta players, Var confirmed the decision of the referee and Nilsson confidently sent the penalty to act the advantage of Hand Club Brugge.
The result gives the Belgian side a narrow lead in front of the second leg in Bergamo, where Atalanta will try to lift the deficit.

Celtic did a spirited performance, but ultimately fell against Bayern Munich in Celtic Park on a 2-1 defeat.
The visitors dominated the first half and recorded five shots on Celtics None and broke the Deadlock at half of the half when Michael Olise shot a breathtaking strike home after a happy ricochet.
Bayern doubled its advantage at the beginning of the second half through Harry Kane, who entered a Joshua Kimmich corner in the 49th minute.
The German side looked control and could have been reinforced to lead, but Celtic refused to surrender and grew into the game in the course of the game.
An energetic late boost of the hosts paid off when Daizen Maeda nodded up close in the 79th minute after Hyun-Jun Yang kept the ball alive from one corner.
Celtic continued to press, and Alistair Johnston forced Manuel Neuer in the meantime a sharp rescue, but Bayern recorded the victory.
The men of Brendan Rodgers are encouraged by their late rally, while preparing themselves for Dundee United on Saturday before going to the Allianz Arena next Tuesday to spend the back leg.

Feyenoord secured an important 1-0 win over AC Milan in the first leg in de Kuip.
Igor Paixao’s early strike proved to be crucial when the hosts achieved a highly competitive victory against the seven -time European champion.
The Dutch side started a dream and took the lead within three minutes, when Paixao cut from left inside and fired a gnawed shot, which wall through the Milan goalkeeper Mike Maignan’s gloves.
Feyenoord almost doubled its advantage before the break, and Paixao rattled the crossbar from a distance.

Benfica won a 1-0 win against Monaco and won a significant advantage in front of his back leg in Lisbon.
A closely contested first half ended goalless, although both sides create opportunities. Benficas Carreras was the closest to the visitors, while Monacos Golovin truubin tested from reach.

When the last pipe blew, Benfica celebrated a highly competitive victory and brought it to a strong position for the second leg. However, Monaco remains in the tie and will try to achieve a spirited reaction in Lisbon with a potential conflict against Barcelona or Liverpool on the horizon.
