One of the things that Ronald D. Moore did Battlestar Galactica Restart is so successful that it was basically everything Star Trek wasnāt. While the classic show by Gene Roddenberry was only about the hopeful research of the cosmos, Mooreās series concentrated after a genocidal attack by the cylons on the hectic struggle of mankind for survival. Despite the differences between the franchises, but Battlestar Galactica It was actually inspired by Star Trek, Cloud 9, a civilian fleet ship, the interior of which looks like a lavish planet outdoors.
How Star Trek created Cloud 9
The Battlestar Galactica Restart, Cloud 9 in the episode āColonial Dayā, a very political episode that required a slight change in the area. Showrunner Moore wanted to introduce the show some surroundings outdoors to prevent it from feeling too claustrophobic, but he also wanted to avoid that the Galactica attend a new planet every week on a LA Star Trek. The solution was to introduce Cloud 9, a civil ship, the interior of which looks comfortable like the exterior of a planet.
At this point you could wonder why the Battlestar Galactica Showrunner and other producers thought that the series mainly needed Coud 9. The short answer is: If the show never brings its characters to new locations, the audience will eventually go as crazy as their favorite figures. This is one of the big reasons why GalacticaA show about characters who live around the clock still found so many opportunities to visit Caprica and other planets.
Much of this exploration came later when Ronald Moore fell more comfortably when these characters explore strange new worlds. However, the Battlestar Galactica Showrunner wanted to create Cloud 9 in season 1 so that the authors do not necessarily have to put the main ship and his heroes on a new planet every week as in a new planet Star Trek: The original series or The next generation. Thanks to Cloud 9 (a ship whose interior looks like that of a planet), the show could offer a visual change in the pace as needed without force the title ship to take detours.
If the show runner had been Someone Otherwise we probably wouldnāt have got a new ship. Our heroes would simply visit a new planet every week, which was made by Kirk and popular Spock. However, Ronald Moore started show business by writing for a letter for Star Trek: The next generationAnd he got this job to a large extent because of his great passion for The original series (He even became Tngās Klingon expert because of his love for TOS). When he started leading his own show, Moore wanted to do something different, so Battlestar Galactica Preuated Cloud 9 so that he didnāt have to bite Trekās style.
As a hardcore Battlestar Galactica Fans know that Cloud 9 did not make it to the end of the series. Instead, this unusual ship was destroyed by a version of six (Gina Inviere) with a nuclear device, the separation of which with Dr. Baltar led to very literal fallout for our heroes. But we never had this ship on the show all If not for Star Trek and his āPlanet of the Weekā Trope, which Ron Moore wanted to avoid. He was ultimately successful (so letās all say!) When creating a standalone Sci-fi Series that brave bravely where there had been no hike before.
