Barcelona is dealt a blow as Tottenham extend Son’s contract
Tottenham have responded to reports linking captain Son Heung-min with Barcelona by triggering a clause in his contract that ties him to the club until 2026.
Son’s current contract, signed in 2021, was for four years, but included the option for Spurs to extend it by 12 months to avoid losing the 32-year-old on a free transfer in the summer.
The South Korean’s potential availability has reportedly caught the attention of Barcelona, who are looking for cheaper options given their financial problems.
We are pleased to announce that we have exercised the option to extend Heung-Min Son’s contract, which now runs until summer 2026 🤍

It was also believed that the League club were attracted to Son due to his popularity in the Far East and the potential commercial opportunities this presented.
Son moved to Spurs from Bayer Leverkusen in 2015. The club described him this morning as “a modern superstar”.
He played 431 games for the club, scoring 169 goals – the fourth most in Spurs history.
Son, a four-time Asian Player of the Year, won the Premier League Golden Boot alongside Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah in 2021/22 after scoring 23 goals.
