Interestingly, despite the version number, the M3 Ultra is the most recent addition to the M-Serie series of chips. In Apple’s Lingo, the “Ultra” version is more powerful than the “Max” version (which is more powerful than the “Pro” version).
As the name suggests, the M3 Ultra is based on the M3 architecture. Apple has linked two M3 Max punch to create a single M3 -Ultra with its ultrafusion architecture. Compared to the M2 Ultra, customers can expect better performance with the M3 Ultra up to 2x. Apple says it is “the highest performance chip ever created”.
From a technical point of view, the chip has a 32-core CPU with 24 performance core and eight efficiency nuclei. It also has the largest GPU in every Apple chip with up to 80 graphics nuclei. There are a total of 184 billion transistors in the M3 Ultra.
As a memory, the M4 Max packs a 14-core CPU with 10 power cores and four efficiency core as well as a 32-kern GPU. Although the M3 Ultra was designed on a newer architecture, it should do it much better than the M4 max.
For 1,999 US dollars you will receive an M4 Max with 36 GB of uniform storage and 512 GB of memory. The M3 Ultra version begins at 3,999 US dollars and has 96 GB of uniform storage and 1 TB memory.
These are just the basic configurations. Regardless of whether you select the M4 Max or the M3 Ultra, you can add more memory and storage before buying your computer.
If you reach the limits of the configuration tool on a Mac -Mini view of the Apple website on the Apple website, the Mac Studio offers many options. Customers can receive up to 512 GB RAM and 16 TB storage space.
Compared to the previous Mac Studio, the design seems to be unchanged, with most of the ports on the back of the computer. You will find four Thunderbolt 5 ports and two traditional USB A ports for your legacy accessories. There is also an HDMI port and a 10 -GB -Ethernet connection. You can also connect an audio device thanks to the trustworthy 3.5 mm headphone bush. In contrast to the Mac Mini, the mains switch on the back of the device remains slightly available.
On the front of the computer you will find an SD slot and two additional USB-C connections. If you choose an M4 Max, these are only USB-C connections (without Thunderbolt functions). If you receive an M3 ultra, these ports are full-fledged Thunderbolt 5 ports.
This means that you can connect up to eight 6k displays or four 8K displays with a MAC studio equipped with the M3 Ultra. So if you want to build a screens, you can now be driven by a single Mac.
