Newcastle wing player Miguel Almiron could leave the club before the expiry of the transfer period, says manager Eddie Howe.
Almiron has been a key player for Newcastle since his change from the US Club Atlanta six years ago, but has fallen in the Hack order and last scored a goal in December 2023.
The 30-year-old is associated with a change to the MLS and was about to join a Saudi club last summer.
Howe said: “I think Miggy’s head was very, very stable here. He was brilliant in training this week and I didn’t experience a moment when I thought: Oh, I have to speak or speak to him or have a deeper conversation.
“I think we are both aware of the situation. Yes, there is interest from other clubs in him. There may be the possibility that he will leave in front of the window, but until this moment, and if this moment never occurs, he is still a valuable member of the team.

Newcastle was clearly beaten by Bournemouth last weekend and finally ended his long winning streak.
Howe says that striker Callum Wilson is about to come, while goalkeeper Nick Pope could stand in the squad for the game against Southampton on Saturday.
He said, “It is too early for Callum. Callum is still on the way to return to the beginning of February.
“He makes good progress. We try to do the right things with him and make sure that he is robust enough and has all the work and load behind him before training in the group.
“But he looks very positive. What a huge player that would be to welcome him again.
“There is a possibility that Nick is in the squad. He started training with the group again, and it’s great to see Nick and his presence and his positive attitude he brings again.
“I saw how he did some really good things this week, so I’m happy to have him with me again.”
