Algeria warns France of joint military exercises with Morocco

Rabat – Algeria has issued a warning to France in terms of the upcoming joint military exercises with Morocco, which are planned for September near the Algerian border.

The Algerian government has classified the planned exercise as a “provocative” lawsuit, of which they claim that they could tighten the already tense relationships between the two nations.

According to the Algerian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Secretary General Magramane met with the French Ambassador in Algeria, Stephane Romatet to discuss the French Moroccan military maneuvers. They are called “Sharki 2025” and will take place in the Rachidia region near the southwestern border of Algeria.

Magramane expressed concerns about the ambassador and warned that the exercises could escalate the existing crisis between the two countries. He emphasized that such actions would continue to burden the relationships and possibly lead to more dangerous consequences.

The Algerian Secretary General also asked France to clarify his position for exercise and increase the perceived risk of the regime to regional stability. He asked for the ambassador of Algeria to send concerns to the French government.

This warning is part of the growing diplomatic Tensions Between Algeria and France, driven by various questions, including the migration contract of 1968, the youngest commentary from French officials to Algeria and the refusal of the regime, to work together in certain important consular topics.

The “Sharki 2025” coil, which marks the second of its kind, is scheduled to begin on September 22, 2025 near Algeria’s southwestern border in Bechar.

The initiative was initiated during a meeting in the French military inspection headquarters on May 22 and 23, 2024 with the aim of coordinating resources and equipment between the two countries.

In addition, a preliminary date for the exercise for September 22, 2025 is planned. The training takes place in designated areas, including the Artillery Training Center (CTM) “Rahmat Allah” and “Afrido” in the Rachidia region, which is less than 100 kilometers from Bechar.
