AGR: BAM remains in a courteous monetary policy

Bank al-Magrib (BAM) continues to support Morocco’s economic growth by strengthening its appropriate monetary policy. In a global environment, which is characterized by geopolitical tensions and inflation risks, the central bank decided to lower its first session policy from 2025 to 2.25 % and to pursue the trend that started since June 2024.

This decision is part of a logic of support for the local economy, while experts from Attijari Global Research (AGR) expect the rate to continue to drop in 2025, which achieves a balance rate of 2 %. However, this trajectory could be adapted internationally after the development of inflation risks.

Inflation in Morocco should be checked by 2 % in 2025, supported by cheap precipitation and household measures that aim to protect the purchasing power of households. This context enables BAM to continue its courteous politics and at the same time to expect an even lower inflation to 1.8 % by 2026 and thus offer more flexibility for future installment reductions.
