Achraf Hakimi reveals the true meaning of the World Cup celebration and resolves post-divorce property claims

Atlas Lion Achraf Hakimi spoke about the origins of his iconic “Penguin Dance” celebration following Morocco’s victory over Spain at the 2022 World Cup.

On ABtalks on YouTube, Hakimi shared that the dance was inspired by a carefree moment with former PSG teammates Sergio Ramos and Kylian Mbappé.

The PSG right-back explained that the three joked about the celebration during a casual meeting and Hakimi decided to take it to the World Cup and dedicate it to Ramos.

He clarified that the gesture was not intended to provoke Spain, a country he considers his second home, but rather as a tribute to their friendship.

Hakimi also addressed reports of registering his assets under his mother’s name, explaining that this arrangement dates back to his early career when he was unable to directly manage his finances as a minor.

His mother took over supervision of his accounts and continued in this role out of trust and practicality.

Hakimi stressed that this long-standing agreement had nothing to do with his marriage or recent divorce, and dismissed claims that it was a response to legal disputes with his ex-wife.
